Planet

Uranus

The ice giant that spins on its side

Description

Uranus is tilted by about 98°, so each pole stays sunlit for about 42 years in a row. Methane in its atmosphere absorbs red light and gives it its blue-green colour.

Did you know?

It was the first planet discovered with a telescope, by William Herschel in 1781.
