The Sun, eclipses and the rules that are not negotiable.

Never look directly at the Sun, neither with the naked eye nor with binoculars or telescopes without proper filters. Retinal damage can be permanent and does not hurt while it happens.
- To look at the Sun you need glasses or filters certified to ISO 12312-2, intact and unscratched.
- Not safe: sunglasses, smoked glass, photographic film, CDs, X-ray film.
- On binoculars and telescopes, solar filters go over the front of the objective, never near the eyepiece.
- A method safe for everyone: projection, for example a hole in a card projecting the Sun's image onto a sheet of paper.
- A lunar eclipse, on the other hand, is completely safe to watch with the naked eye.
At night
Choose places you know and that are safe, tell someone where you are going, bring a torch and respect private property and protected areas.
